Dennett’s Operation

-He was anaesthetized and remembered nothing of the operation itself.

-In a brain transplant operation, one wants to be the donor, not the recipient.

-Dennett is confused by whether to call the operation a brain transplant or a body transplant.

-To this day he has minor coordination difficulties.

-He takes aspirin for a sprained wrist, and codeine for his brain.

-After Dennett has a body/brain failure on a mission, the scientists create a duplicate of his brain to which he could choose which brain he wanted to use by switch.

-At the end of the story, Dennett switches from one brain to the other, only to find out that they had drifted apart. Once the brains became unparalleled, and it became obvious to the noncontrolling brain that it did not control the body’s actions, the brains drifted farther apart. At the story’s close, the two brains have very different thoughts.
