ethical guidelines were derived over the years as the original Nuremberg Code was revised and adopted by the APA and US Government in the Belmont Report<\/li>\n<li>Due to the level of deception and stress caused by both the situation and the participants\u2019 experience in the Milgram study, and the level of stress experienced by the \u201cprisoners\u201d in the Zimbardo study, many researchers believe that these studies were NOT ethical<\/li>\n<li>Ethics Code for Research includes: o Humans:\n<ol>\n<li>IRB approval<\/li>\n<li>Informed consent<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Purpose of the research<\/li>\n<li>Expected duration of their participation<\/li>\n<li>Procedures used in the research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Participants\u2019 right to decline or withdraw<\/li>\n<li>Foreseeable risks<\/li>\n<li>Benefits of the research<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Confidentiality rights of the participants<\/li>\n<li>Incentives for participation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Whom to contact for questions or concerns<\/li>\n<li>Informed consent reduce harm<\/li>\n<li>Participants must be informed that it is experiments, how participants will be assigned to groups, the available alternative treatments, and the compensation<\/li>\n<li>Coercion<\/li>\n<li>Incentives for participation must be reasonable so as not to be coercive<\/li>\n<li>Deception Reduce Harm<\/li>\n<li>If the research involves any deception, the researchers must determine that the deception is necessary and justified and explain any use of deception as soon as possible at the completion of the study<\/li>\n<li>Reduce harm<\/li>\n<li>Thorough debriefing must be given for the study<\/li>\n<li>If researchers become aware of unexpected harm to participants, they must take reasonable measures to reduce harm, including termination of the study if necessary<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>o Animals:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Animal research ethics\n<ol>\n<li>Adhere to federal and local guidelines for care and treatment of animals<\/li>\n<li>Involve trained personnel<\/li>\n<li>Minimize discomfort<\/li>\n<li>Painful or stressful procedures must be justified and ONLY used when alternative procedures cannot<\/li>\n<li>Use anesthesia and prevent infection with surgical procedures<\/li>\n<li>Terminate animals quickly with minimal pain if necessary<\/li>\n<li>Ethics in reporting research<\/li>\n<li>Researchers must report data accurately and correct errors if they are discovered<\/li>\n<li>Researchers must properly cite others\u2019 ideas and work<\/li>\n<li>Publication credit can be taken only for work the authors have performed<\/li>\n<li>Credit order should be determined according to the contribution of each author<\/li>\n<li>Data should be shared with other
