1) Eliminates irresistible-impulse component of the ALI rules<\/p>\n
2) Changes the ALI\u2019s \u201clacks substantial capacity\u2026to appreciate\u201d to \u201cunable to appreciate\u201d *tightens the grounds for an insanity defense, making criteria for impairment judgment more stringent<\/p>\n
3) Stipulates that mental disease\/defect must be severe<\/p>\n
\uf0b7 No longer can use defense \u201cdiminished capacity\u201d or \u201cdiminished responsibility\u201d based on mitigating circumstances as extreme passion or temporary insanity<\/p>\n
